Devyn Peterson to Take on Dirt Crown Sport Mod Summer Series in 2024
Nebraska driver grabbed wins at trio of tracks last year
MILFORD, Neb. (Jan. 3, 2024) – Coming off a successful 2023 campaign in which he won six feature events, Devyn Peterson has announced he will follow both the north and south divisions of the newly formed Dirt Crown Sport Mod Summer Series for the 2024 season. In addition to the 16-race slate featuring IMCA SportMods at tracks in the Midwest and Great Plains regions, Peterson will compete in multiple prestigious big-money events and participate in weekly racing as his schedule allows.
“We sold our 2019 Slider Chassis after several great seasons in it and are preparing a new 2024 Slider as we speak,” Peterson said. “Although we’ve done our fair share of traveling over the past few years, it will be a fun challenge to run for points and hopefully pick up some victories as we chase the Dirt Crown titles.”
Peterson drove his No. 5D IMCA SportMod to wins at three different tracks in 2023, taking the checkered flag in events at US 30 Speedway in Columbus, Nebraska; Beatrice Speedway in Beatrice, Nebraska; and Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa.
Among the year’s numerous highlights were a prelim night victory in the Tiny Lund Memorial at Shelby County and a runner-up in the finale of the Abe Lincoln Memorial at US 30.
Complementing his six wins, Peterson tallied 15 top-five finishes and 17 top-10 results in 2023. He did so despite facing engine issues which precluded his family-owned team from racing as much as they had originally planned.
Along with several family members and a dedicated crew, multiple partners support Peterson as he hits the track each week.
“If it wasn't for them, we couldn't do it at all,” Peterson said.
Peterson would like to thank all of his marketing partners, which include DAWS Trucking INC, Nebraska811, SpeedeeMart, Workman Trading Co., Hope Group LLC, Smart Chicken, Krieser Drywall & Insulation, Comforttechs, Kirby Roth Insurance, Aqua Systems, Earnest Well Drilling, Roth and Mullet Foundations, Martin Excavating, Ackerman Rock & Gravel, Briggs Feed Yard, Potter Repair, MyRacePass, Wergin’s Lawn Service, Underdog Design, Super Spray Car Wash, Spickelmier HDD, Leiting Motorsports and Load Shop.
